IRS UPDATES CHILD TAX CREDIT WEBSITE

The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the White House have announced the relaunch of the renewed website – ChildTaxCredit.gov. The website now features many new changes made to help taxpayers file their taxes. Taxpayers can access the remainder of the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) or the full amount of the CTC with the help of this website. President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan (ARP) in March 2021. The ARP expanded the CTC and gave low-income families access to the full amount of the credit. The ARP also allowed the IRS to distribute half of the tax credit to families through monthly payments. Millions of families received CTC monthly payments between July and December 2021. Taxpayers must file a tax return to receive the other half of their payments. Some eligible taxpayers did not receive advance payments in 2021 for various reasons. These taxpayers will get their full credit by filing their tax returns.

The website also features reliable information about the CTC, eligibility and how to get the credit.  The CTC website can be reached by clicking the link ChildTaxCredit.gov
